An aspect of internet marketing that can yield great returns on your investment is to register domain names that you think might will be valuable now or in the nearest future. You can then sell this domain names for a profit on the various domain name forums, marketplaces, ebay etc.

I came across an article over at Daily Domainer titled ‘Registering Valuable Domains for Resale Profits’ that lists 15 different ways to profit from registering valuable domains name in order to sell them for a profit.

To be honest, I haven’t taken my domain investing serious up to now but these 15 tips have given me food for thought.

Late last year, I posted a topic Domain Parking - Is It Worth while? because I noted that the disadvantages of domain parking outweigh the advantages. I outlined 3 disadvantages which are :-

1) No Search engine traffic.
2) Decrease in revenue.
3) Parking companies don’t allow you to market your domains in any way.

However, I came across a company called WhyPark.

I’ve been parking most of my domains for over a year now and initially had that as my source of income. However, parking domains have advantages and disadvantages. And one needs to review the pros and cons to evaluate if parking domains is actually worthwile. Recently, I’ve noticed that my income has continued to decrease drastically which is why I’ve decided to develop some of the domains into income generating sites if I feel have a marketable element to them. The advantages of parking is you don’t have to worry about hosting or anything else. The parking company takes care of all that. However the disadvantages include

1) No Search engine traffic.
2) Decrease in revenue.
3) Parking companies don’t allow you to market your domains in any way.

Type in traffic domains are ok to be parked because their traffic is not dependent on search engines per se, but if like me you don’t have type in traffic domains then using parking domains might be a disadvantage.

So my strategy right now is to buy domains that I feel can be developed at a later date. I park them initially until I figure out what to do with them.
