I finally became a full time Internet Marketer after my last contract job ended yesterday. My contract job involved customizing a large Oracle based database application that had been implemented by the local council. I truly enjoyed the role I was hired to do but I haven’t been a happy bunny in the past year. I had continuosly asked myself if this is what I really wanted to do for the rest of my career. And to be honest the answer had always been straight and capital ‘NO’.
Quite frankly, I had like to do a lot of travelling, spend more quality time with my young family, play more golf and just relax generally and enjoy life a lot more. Unfortunately, the contract job didn’t allow me any of these luxuries. Besides I have had to endure commuting to work for an average 110miles (171km) everyday which really did my head in sometimes. Don’t get me wrong, the money was good but in the end I just didn’t feel happy inside and I truly knew I had to find something else to do.
I had always embraced the magic of the internet. I took up a freelance role as a blogger for a website that covered the World Cup last summer. I truly enjoyed it and decided to set up OnlineGist when that role ended. OnlineGist continues to grow and I am really happy about that. Besides, I have made some money promoting affiliate programs which I have truly enjoyed. And also dabbled in buying and selling domains for quick profits. The opportunities that the internet provide is endless to say the least.
Anyway I plan to spilt my online time at home between promoting affiliate products and developing my own informational products (websites, ebooks, audio, video etc). I will also be invovled in launching a property portal GetMoved here in the UK.
I am quite aware that working from home will be a big challenge in itself but I am truly looking forward to challenge to be honest. I understand the fact that my online income will be erratic to say the least. And I have also come to believe that nothing is really guaranteed online. Also, I will have to work very awkward hours to get the online business up and running. But like anything else, ‘Nothing Ventured Nothing Gained’, so I don’t want to look back 5-10 years down the line and say to myself, I wish I had done that.
I will be keeping a diary of what I actually get up to online so watch this space.
Cheers!!!
