Blogging - A Word of Mouth Marketing concept

If you have a business, you know that advertising is essential to getting your name out there. The more familiar with your name people are the more value your name has, thus, the more value your product or service has in the minds of the consumer. However, advertising can be expensive, so business owners are always looking for ways to advertise for less. The most popular form of inexpensive advertising is word of mouth marketing.

Truth in Blogging

Blogging is a word of mouth marketing technique that is becoming very popular on the internet. People all over the world and of all ages are writing blogs. Sometimes they are just general chatter about their own lives, but more often than not they are focused on a specific topic. Anyone can start their own blog as a means of getting the word out about their business and then link to other blogs that focus on similar topics to yours. When you link to them, they will usually link back to you. Their “friends” become your “friends”.

You can also approach blog writers and ask them to review your business products or services in exchange for links, percentages of sales, or free products or services.

Blogging as a word of mouth marketing concept can help you spread the buzz about your business quickly and effectively. It does take time but costs are minimal thus increasing your profit margins. You can still spread the word with your real time friends, but your online “friends” can be an invaluable resource to your business.

The amount of information that is available on the net is truly astounding. It’s like a gargantuan library, all available electronically, from the comfort of home. There is probably no topic you can’t find out about. There are scholarly tomes available online as well as more user friendly information contained within short articles. In the short article category, niche articles are popular with website owners because they bring traffic to their site. Traffic means business.

Is Yahoo/Overture Inventory Tool Dead?

Is Yahoo/Overture Inventory Tool Dead?

The Yahoo/Overture Inventory Tool seems to have disappeared from our radars. It was an important tool for keyword research over the years. Initially launched as the Overture Search Term Suggestion Tool, it allowed users to estimate the number of times a word was searched across the Yahoo network during the previous month. And in addition to this, it provided up to 100 variations of the keyword along with search volume. Also clicking on any variation of the keyword generated yet another list of variations, thereby illustrating the long tail of keyword queries to marketers within minutes.

However, the tool was often criticised for its inaccuracy and the numbers where never accurate even though they gave a vague estimate of searches on those keywords.

The tools I’ve used are www.wordtracker.com, www.keywordelite.com (an excellent piece of software not just used for search numbers but much more) and GoodKeywords (www.goodkeywords.com).

I would like to hear from internet marketers using alternative tools to Yahoo/Overture Inventory Tool and the ones I listed above.

Mike Filsaime on Internet Marketing Unwrapped - Feedback

I listened in to Internet Marketing Unwrapped host Heather Vale’s interview Mike Filsaime a few days ago. Mike talked about Viral Marketing in much details and I picked up some useful information on what Viral Marketing is all about.

Viral Marketing is a delivery mechanism to get your message across very quickly. The aim of the message is to have a profound effect on whoever is receiving it in order for them to take action.

Viral Marketing is really a free advertising medium where current visitors are giving an incentive to get more visitors. Mike Filsaime did just that recently with the release of a special report called “The Death Of Internet Marketing”. He gave each and every one who passed on the report an incentive of receiving a dollar. In return he was going to build an opt-in list of around 35,000 people.

True Viral Marketing

He mentioned that the initial injection of the message into the marketplace is crucial and who ever is at the receiving end of the message would want to know if the message is buzz worthy and what in it for them.

The delivery mechanism used to get the message across should be easily transportable and the product that the viral marketing is promoting must be worth talking about.

Mike also explained the concept behind his most popular product, Butterfly Marketing. In a nutshell Butterfly Marketing produces small changes in your business that can have a huge/dramtic effect in the marketplace.

The session was pretty good and informative and I would surely take a look at the Butterfly Marketing product in the nearest future.

If you would like to listen to the top Internet Marketers reveal their top secrets then I suggest you take a look Heather Vale’s Internet Marketing Unwrapped Series and Willie Crawford’s

Concept To Cash Product Workshop - Session4

In this session, Willie Crawford talked about creating a funnel system for our potential product that we are looking to create.

A funnel system is basically a system put in place for getting new prospects and customers in the door and then up-selling to them over time.

In order to have a good funnel system in place you want as many entry points into the funnel system as practical. He mentioned that we want entry points planned and ready before to deploy as soon as the website is live.

Entry points could be in the form of
- Articles
- Press releases
- Give away ebooks through multiple channels
- Mp3’s of product creator discussing product topic
- Relevant software that audience would appreciate
- Authoritative reports

The key is to upsell from entry level products to top products. So for example we can have a less expensive item sell a a more expensive item.

Do You Suffer Product Buying Syndrome?

If you are in the Internet Marketing game you might from time to time suffer product buying syndrome, whereby you feel that next product that an internet marketer is pushing your way might just make a difference to your online business. I feel like that sometimes and currently have tones of ebooks, software that I just bought and is just sitting on my hard drive gathering dust.

Well, I came across an interesting post at affiliate marketer Matthew Glanfield’s AffiliateMinute site that he titled “When you shouldn’t buy another product…”.

And that post has given me a new way to evaluate Information products whether it be Ebooks, Software, Audio or Video.

So the key here is to focus and define your goals for maybe 12 to 18 months and ask yourself a key question the next time are about to purchase another information product.

The question is : -

Does the product you are about to buy push you towards your goal or does it distract you from your goal?

If it is going to distract me from my goal then it is definitely not what buying. And if you feel the information product will help you towards your goals then once you buy it make sure you use it straight away and not tomorrow or the day after.

I have put to use what I learnt in Matthew’s post and now evaluate carefully any information product I come across.

Tapping into MyBlogLog Social Traffic

I am a big fan of social traffic from sites such as Myspace, YouTube, Flickr etc. Recently, I joined MyBlogLog, a social networking sites based around communities.

SocialTrafficJPG

MyBlogLog offers a web analytics tool that provide basic stats information such as site visits, pageviews and clickthrough. Recently, Mybloglog has added a community feature where registered members can join the community of any other registered site.

Communities are like topics of interest so you can easily find a community based on your hobbies, interests etc. Also, you can add contacts, friends and associates to you individual blogs or communities. You can also network with people within the communities you join or outside the community via email.

Traffic from Mybloglog is slowing filtering to this site and I really enjoy being a member. Interestingly, you can track who reads your blogs by adding a widget like I have on the right side under “My Community”.
